QHC has eight skilled nursing facilities. Skilled nursing facilities, or nursing homes, provide additional care that a caregiver may not be able to provide. This can include, but is not limited to, attending to post-operative wounds, assisting with physical, speech, or occupational therapy, providing pharmacy, laundry, educational, or transportation services, and helping with bathing, dressing, meal preparation, and eating.
Nursing homes differ from assisted living facilities in that they offer a slightly higher level of monitoring and assistance. The choice between a nursing home and an assisted living facility can be difficult. A nursing home is often the best choice for your loved one when he or she requires constant nursing care, supervision, and assistance with meals and personal hygiene.
We offer both private and semi-private rooms for your loved ones. All of our skilled nursing facilities have cable television, wireless Internet, community rooms, and outdoor space. We also offer several organized activities for all of our residents like games, community outings, movies, and karaoke. Residents are invited to participate in as many or as few activities as they want.
We encourage our residents to continue their normal hobbies and interests during their time at our facilities in order to make the transition to a nursing home as seamless as possible. For this reason, we offer reading programs, gardening classes, exercise classes, crafts, and even happy hour.
Our facilities are award winning, and we take pride in providing the highest level of care possible for your loved ones. In 2010 and 2012, QHC was proud to take home the Iowa Governor’s Award for excellence in nursing home care. This award recognizes the skilled nursing facility, statewide, that provides exceptional care to its residents. We have facilities located throughout the state to accommodate as many Iowans as possible. Our ten facilities are located in Maquoketa, Marion, Fort Dodge, Humboldt, Winterset, Mitchellville, and Dysart.
Our company was founded in 1977 by Kenneth Webb under the name Quality Health Care Specialists, Corp. In 2011, Jerry and Nancy Voyna became the proud owners after 20+ years of service within the company home office. At that time Jerry and Nancy changed the name of the company to QHC Management, LLC and QHC Facilities, LLC, respectively. QHC Management oversees the operations of QHC Facilities and in total there are 10 facilities; eight skilled nursing homes and two assisted living facilities.
